Action offer an imaginative range of climbing
frames, each designed to provide a comprehensive set of activities at a sensible price. Each model is complete right down to swingseats and without the need to spend further money on add-ons. We also offer an intelligent range of complementary extensions which allow alternative play activities, these may be added either at the time of the initial build or later as required.
Designed to blend into your garden, Action use selected top grade pine (from managed European forests) and as few man-made materials as possible. The seasoned timber is machined square, planed smooth with rounded edges and finished to within 1mm tolerances. All fixing holes and nut recesses are drilled before the timber is pressure-treated, using a non-toxic arsenic-free solution approved for children’s playground equipment.
Safety is at the heart of our climbing frame design specification, with substantial timber sections used for the frames (70mm x 70mm) and swing-arm (90mm x 110mm) and strong railings around the platforms. Every model provides the minimum of a heavy-duty green wavy slide, substantial climbing frame and play platform, two swings with wooden seats, wooden roof and (apart from the Gate Lodge) a commando net. Included are all necessary fittings (galvanized or stainless steel), galvanised swing hangers with low-noise nylon bearings, fasteners, detailed assembly instructions and even a drill-bit for preparing screw holes. Our products meet or exceed the British & European Safety Standard for Toys, EN71 and are designed to meet German TUV standards. Our pressure treatment is cadmium / chromium / arsenic free and approved for domestic use.
Installation and Assembly:
Before purchasing or installing your climbing frame measure your garden. An unobstructed safety area of about 1.5m should be left for safety and access, with a clear zone of about 2.0m to 2.5m in front and behind the swings.
All sections come flat-packed in manageable packages. Rather than use ground anchors, all structural beams such as frames and swing-arm supports provide an extra 30cm length to be buried in the ground. Building and installing your
climbing frame is best done with at least two people. You will also need some tools, in particular a 13mm & 17mm box or socket spanner, cordless drill / screwdriver, level and tape measure. Build times are set out in our product descriptions and assume a reasonably level garden and ground clear of rubble. NOTE: Wood is a natural product, and as such is subject to the influence of the moisture content of the air and ground. Sometimes surface cracks, splits or loose knots may appear but these will not result in weakening of structural stability. Such cracks and splits are more common in round section timber, another of the reasons we prefer machined sawn timber from larger trees.
Configuration and Warranty:
Most of our climbing frames provide more than one configuration. We have provided plans with the dimensions of the various components to allow you to draw up alternative designs. Some changes are easy to achieve, others may require a small amount of input from you. Please consult your dealer or contact us direct if you wish to make major changes. We have the confidence and experience with our products to offer a no-quibble 10 year guarantee against rot and insect infestation on all timber sections. All ropes, accessories, slides and faulty workmanship are guaranteed for 1 year, subject to correct installation and normal use.

This garden play equipment is made of selected spruce and pine. All timber used in this equipment is treated against rot and insect infestation. The timber is cut, milled and drilled prior to entering the kilns for pressure treatment. The solution used for impregnation is non-toxic, free of arsenic and in general use for childrens wooden playground equipment.
During the development of our range of play equipment; for use in the gardens of private homes, every care is taken in the preparation of the equipment. All timbers are machine finished and pressure treated. All orders are individually inspected prior to banding and packing for despatch.
For your safety ground anchors are supplied with all frames. Ground anchors are supplied with all Swing Frames, Play Towers, Climbing Towers and the Clubhouse. As robust swinging and playing may result in overturning or instability of play units, we strongly advise that ground anchors are always used.
Installation:
- Each play construction is supplied complete with detailed instructions for assembly and installation
- All timber elements are pre-drilled and all fixings are supplied.
A natural renewable resource:
For strength and durability round wood from smaller trees is specially selected. These timbers are stronger and less costly than those sawn from larger trees and are produced through the selective thinning of managed forests.
| Wood is a natural product which is subject to the influence of the moisture content of the air and ground. In warm sunny weather the timber will shrink and in wet weather the reverse applies. These stresses will create some cracking and splitting in the timbers. The width of cracks can be up to 3% of the circumference of the component and they can go nearly to the centre of the timber in depth. Cracks of this size are allowed for in calculating the operational strength of each component. |
