Trampolines
What shape trampoline should I buy?
What shape trampoline should I buy?
Round Trampolines
Round trampolines are the traditional and original shape garden trampoline. The circular shape provides even tension on the springs, which means that there is only one central bounce area. If you tumble or fall, you will be pulled back to the middle, which is where you will find your greatest bounce. Always consider who will be using trampoline? If you are looking for a trampoline that all the family can use, you may look at a higher user weight limit which is great for older children, but, not great for younger children.
Oval Trampolines
Oval trampolines have a different spring configuration than that of a round trampoline, providing 3 different bounce areas for a safer jump, which is great if you are going to allow more than one user on at a time (which we do not recommend). The oval shape fits nicely into more narrow gardens.
Rectangular Trampolines
Rectangular trampolines are becoming more widely available for domestic use. They are most popular with serious trampolinists or gymnasts as they are more suited to doing moves and tricks. The rectangle shape and spring configuration provides the user with a more professional jump than that of a round trampoline.
What size trampoline should I buy?
What size trampoline should I buy?
We always recommend buying as large a trampoline as your budget and the size of your garden allow. This means your children can grow into it and you are less likely to need to replace it for a larger model as the children get bigger.
For safety, we recommend allowing 2 metres clear space around your trampoline.
Do I have to buy an enclosure with my trampoline?
Do I have to buy an enclosure with my trampoline?
All trampolines which are sold and used for domestic use now need to be supplied with an enclosure. From 2019 the EU standard was updated to include InGround trampolines.
Trampolines sold as sporting goods do not need to be bought with a safety enclosure, this is sold as an additional option for peace on mind.
How long does it take to build a trampoline?

How safe is trampolining?
How safe is trampolining?
Providing they are used correctly and under parental supervision trampolines are not dangerous.
To stay safe, it is strongly recommended to only allow one person on the trampoline at a time; this will lower the chances of collisions and bouncing too high.
All children should always be supervised by an adult when using a trampoline and you should make sure the trampoline mat is not wet when in use.
We recommend that you regularly check all parts of your trampoline for signs of wear or damage.
Please refer to your trampoline user manual for additional safety information.
For safety, we recommend allowing 2 metres clear space around your trampoline.

I have put up my trampoline but decided it is too big/small. Can I return it?
I have put up my trampoline but decided it is too big/small. Can I return it?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept returns for items that have already been assembled. We strongly advise that prior to purchasing a trampoline you measure the area in which it is to be placed and mark the trampoline out in your garden. This will ensure you purchase the correct size and shape for your garden.

Do I need a ladder?
Do I need a ladder?
We recommend that it is always worth investing in a ladder. It will ensure everyone using the trampoline gravitates to one entry and exit point and ladders are easy to unhook and remove which prevents smaller children from entry when not supervised.
Some of our trampolines include a ladder, please refer to the individual product page for more information.
Remember to always remove the ladder when the trampoline is not in use.
Is my trampoline safe to use in all weathers?
Is my trampoline safe to use in all weathers?
We strongly advise not using a trampoline in rain, snow or icy conditions as the bed could become slippery and therefore accidents are more likely to happen.
It is also important to note that we do not recommend leaving your trampoline up in extreme weather such as high winds.
We do offer a range of accessories that can help secure your trampoline in windy conditions.
Can I sink my trampoline into the ground?
Can I sink my trampoline into the ground?
We provide a range of specially designed InGround trampolines just for this.
However, if you are looking to sink a standard above ground trampoline then we would suggest you get advice from a builder or gardener first to check how wet your soil is and what drainage to allow for as we are unable to provide advice or recommendations on which trampoline you should purchase for this purpose.
Please also note that this would void any warranty on the trampoline as it is not designed to be used in this way.
How can I prolong the life of my trampoline?
How can I prolong the life of my trampoline?
Using a protective bed cover can help protect your bed from UV rays, rain and general weather conditions which means that quality will be maintained for longer.
Some trampoline nets can be disconnected from the support poles and laid down on the bed of the trampoline. If this is done over the winter months, it can help to prolong the life of the net.
We also recommend that you take the enclosure net down in high winds as they can act like a sail, causing your trampoline to take off or fall over causing damage which would not be covered under any warranty. A
lso make sure you don’t go over the maximum weight limit. This will ensure that the bed and springs are not put under excessive pressure and subsequently weaken.
What tools will I need to assemble my trampoline?
What tools will I need to assemble my trampoline?
For most trampolines all you will need is an Allen key and a spring loading tool. These are often included in your trampoline when you receive it.
In addition, we do recommend that you use safety gloves and safety glasses when assembling your trampoline.
How many children can safely go on a trampoline at one time?
How many children can safely go on a trampoline at one time?
All manufacturers will advise that you should only have one user bouncing at one time to avoid injury. It is important that you are aware of the weight limit of your trampoline so should you choose to allow more than one user; they do not exceed that recommended user weight limit.
Can I use my trampoline on a slope or uneven ground?
Can I use my trampoline on a slope or uneven ground?
Yes, you can use your trampoline on a slope providing that the slope is smaller than 15% or 1 in 7. However, you will need to level out your trampoline by digging a trench. To do this, dig a 3-inch-wide trench and as deep as you need to level it so that when you place your uphill trampoline legs in the trench the trampoline becomes level.
Can I leave my trampoline out all year round?
Can I leave my trampoline out all year round?
We strongly recommend that you take your trampoline down in the winter months if it will not be used. This is to protect it from harsh weather that can cause damage such as wind damaging the enclosure net.
However, if you choose to leave it up, we recommend that you invest in a debris cover to protect the mat from damage from debris such as leaves and twigs.
We also recommend that you remove any snow that accumulates on the mat as the weight of the snow can weaken the springs.
We would also recommend that you take down the enclosure net as this can act like a sail, causing the trampoline to take off or fall over resulting in damage which would not be covered under any warranty.
Above Ground Swimming Pools
Which above ground pool is right for my garden?
Which above ground pool is right for my garden?
Choosing a pool is all about balancing your available space, your budget, and how you plan to use it. At Sunshine Pools, we specialise in high-quality above ground swimming pools from top brands like Intex and Bestway.
- Space & Planning: Always measure your intended area twice! You’ll need a bit of "buffer" space around the pool for the ladder and pump.
- Oval Framed Pools: Perfect for narrow gardens. They offer a great swimming length without taking up the full width of a round pool.
- Rectangular Framed Pools: The gold standard for those who actually want to swim laps. They are incredibly sturdy, snap together without tools, and utilise your garden space very efficiently.
- Round Pools: The classic "splash about" choice, ideal for families with younger kids who want to play.
Remember to check the footprint of your pool as the dimensions stated are the top of the frame, not the overall size required. The legs will stick out taking up more space. The total footprint required can be found in the images of each pool.
Can I return my pool if I realize it’s the wrong size after setup?
Can I return my pool if I realize it’s the wrong size after setup?
Because our pools are self-assembly items, we cannot accept returns once the pool has been unpacked and assembled. We really recommend marking out the dimensions in your garden with a piece of string or a garden hose before you buy. This gives you a "real-life" feel for how much space it will take up and helps avoid any post-purchase regret!
For more information see our returns policy.
How long does it take to fill an above ground pool?
How long does it take to fill an above ground pool?
This depends on your local water pressure and the pool's capacity. On average, a standard UK garden hose delivers about 9 gallons per minute (approx. 540 gallons per hour).
- Example: A 5,000-gallon pool will take roughly 9 to 10 hours to fill.
- Pro Tip: If you have a large pool, plan to start the fill early in the morning so you can monitor the "leveling" process (the first inch of water is the most important!).
Does the ground really need to be perfectly level?
Does the ground really need to be perfectly level?
Yes, absolutely. This is the most important step of the setup. If your pool is on even a slight slope, the weight of the water (which is several tons!) will push against the "downhill" side, causing the liner to bulge and potentially leading to a collapse.
- Preparation: Remove all sharp stones and twigs.
- Levelling: If your lawn is uneven, use a layer of fine sand to create a level base.
- Protection: Always use a ground sheet or floor protectors to protect your liner from the earth and keep the bottom of the pool clean.
Do I need to use chemicals in my swimming pool?
Do I need to use chemicals in my swimming pool?
To keep your water safe and crystal clear, you do need a santisation system. Without it, bacteria and algae will quickly take over.
- Starter Kits: We offer comprehensive pool chemical starter kits that include everything you need: Stabilised Chlorine Granules (to kill bacteria), pH Plus/Minus (to balance the water so it doesn't sting eyes), Algaecide (to prevent green water), and Test Strips.
- Testing: We recommend testing your water at least twice a week (more often in hot weather or heavy use).
My pool water has turned green! How do I fix it?
My pool water has turned green! How do I fix it?
Green water is caused by algae. This usually happens if the chlorine levels have dropped too low or the pH is out of balance.
- Test: Use a test strip to see what's wrong.
- Shock: Use "Shock Chlorine" to give the pool a massive boost of sanitiser.
- Circulate: Keep your filter pump running 24/7 until the water clears.
- Algaecide: Add a dose of algaecide to kill off any remaining spores.
Do I really need a filter pump?
Do I really need a filter pump?
Yes, a pump is the "heart" of your pool. It circulates the water, preventing it from becoming stagnant, and traps physical debris (hair, insects, dust).
- Cartridge Filters: Common in smaller pools; the paper filters need cleaning every few days and replacing every 2 weeks.
- Sand Filters: Much more powerful and efficient. They use special filter sand (or glass media) which only needs replacing every 5 years.
How can I heat my above ground pool in the UK?
How can I heat my above ground pool in the UK?
We have two main options depending on your pool size and budget:
- Elecro Engineering Heaters: They are incredibly reliable and range from single-phase 3kw (plug-in) up to 3-phase 18kw (which requires a qualified electrician to hard-wire).
- Poolex Heat Pumps: Coming soon.
How does a solar cover work?
How does a solar cover work?
It’s not just a "bubble wrap" sheet! A solar cover acts as a giant magnifying glass, transferring the sun's energy into the water.
- Heat Retention: It prevents evaporation, which is responsible for about 75% of a pool's heat loss.
- Which way up? Always place the bubbles facing down into the water. This traps the heat and keeps it in the pool.
How often should I change my filter cartridges?
How often should I change my filter cartridges?
For the best water quality, you should rinse your cartridge with a hose every few days. However, they should be replaced entirely every 1 to 2 weeks during the summer, as the fine fibers eventually become clogged with oils and microscopic debris that a hose can't reach.
How often should the sand in my filter pump be changed?
How often should the sand in my filter pump be changed?
The media (sand) in a domestic filter should be changed approximately every 5 years to ensure effective filtration, although it can be cleaned with chemicals in this time to prolong its efficiency. It can also now be replaced with a crushed, treated glass media which does not need to be changed so frequently.
